Home for the Holidays

A note from Ms. Jenette Robinson Director, Fort Mill Cooperative Preschool

This time of year always has us reflect on what’s important–and that’s family, traditions, culture and beliefs. I want to take this time to thank you all for being an important piece of my family!

I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for our school families and staff. I don’t personally have any family here in South Carolina; all of my family lives in upstate NY. All of you– parents, children and staff are my family and I hope you can feel how much you mean to me!

I appreciate the holiday traditions here at our school. We started celebrating the 12 days of Christmas for our teachers last year to show them how much we appreciate their hard work and dedication. We let them dress up in special ways and give them little treats every day. The teachers spend their days pouring themselves; their love and teaching into little people’s lives all day and it feels so good to celebrate them!

I love that we honor school traditions here and that family involvement is such a huge part of your child’s life at school. I was at a for-profit school in Charlotte for ten years. And, I personally loved that program, but didn’t have the opportunity to connect with the families like I do here, because we only saw them at drop off and pick up times. I adore that family involvement is a big piece of our program here. It really adds to both children’s and staff’s experiences when the families play such a huge part in the child’s education.

Another important piece is that all cultures and beliefs are embraced here. Our school is not a stuffy, corporate place that doesn’t include everyone; we cherish every person and meet them where they are! We encompass each family and staff member and truly embody what a true school family is.

So thank you for being you, and allowing me to personally play a part in your child’s life and family. I know I speak on behalf of all our staff members here, and cannot thank you enough for allowing us to help “raise” your child while they are in our care.
